The Digital India movement which is an initiative by the Indian government to digitalize the whole country has been appreciated by every state of the country. Each state of the country has taken steps towards digitalization as much as possible.

The present UP government has started an initiative of the online marriage certificate as a part of digital India movement. The present manual process of getting a marriage certificate and registration takes a lot of time.

The initiative is taken by the UP Stamp and Registration Department, under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 any married couple can register their marriage and obtain a marriage certificate from the sub-registrar office.

The registration can be done on the official website https://www.igrsup.gov.in. The whole registration process is simple and quick.

The first couple to register was Mehtaab Singh and Rameshwari Devi when the project was in a pilot stage. This pilot project was started at the Sadar sub-registrar office at district Barabanki in UP.

While the project is into the pilot stage many changes are being made to make it easier and more accessible. All the changes are being implemented in the final stage. The IT department is working hard to make the entire process much simpler.

Regarding this the Inspector General, Registration, Ashish Goyal said that this project is an important leap toward digitalization. He further said that this project was really needed to keep the state pace with the rest of the country.

This initiative will help both the citizens of the state and the government. All the records will be stored in digital formats and all the details can be fetched anywhere, anytime.

As for now, the pilot project is being tested, the government is ready to scale it up to many other parts of the state. Also, the department is coming up with a solution for online payments, which will be a great achievement.

At present only registration is possible online. A couple need to scan all the important documents and fill the form at the official website https://www.igrsup.gov.in

All the scan documents need to be attached online. The couple will receive a unique registration no. which they need to use while scanning their documents at the sub-registrar office.

The documents are then verified by the department office and the same documents will be uploaded on your online status form.

Online payment can be done once all the things are approved by the department.

The Principal Secretary, Stamp, and Registration Mr. Anil Kumar said that by the end of the month the initiative will be scale to all the sub-registrar offices of the state which will be a big leap toward digitalization.

The entire process from registration to online payments will be much more secured, faster and easier. We have explained down below the entire process of registration step by step.
