Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the other name of the scheme Swachh Bharat Mission or Clean India Mission is a campaign started by the Indian Government which aims to provide clean surrounding which includes streets, roads and cities, parks and almost all the public areas. This also includes the Rural Areas. The aim of the Swachh Bharat is to make India free from the open defecation so that the toilet can be used within the houses as well as the community-owned toilets so to make India free from the Open Defecation.
The launch of Abhiyan, IHHL
The Prime minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the scheme or so-called Mission on 2 October 2014 from the Raj ghat and its aim is to make the ODF means open defecation free country UPTO the 2 October 2019 on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The project cost of UPTO ₹1.96 lakh crore for the construction of 7.5 crores of the toilet for the project to initiate. The government will provide Rs. 12000 to the people who are living below the poverty line for the construction of the toilet in the house to help the people below the BPL under the moto Pradhan Mantri Toilet Nirmaan
Benefits of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Toilet
Free Latrine Yojana is a great initiative by the government to provide free toilets in the urban as well as the Rural areas as already mentioned, it is a government project as the government will provide the funds to the respective agencies which are working for the Mission, as well as the people, will get Rs. 12000 for the construction of a toilet. To avail the benefit of the scheme the people have to register for this scheme then after Rs. 12000 will be transferred to the accounts under the direct bank transfer to get the direct benefit to the public. Interested people can apply for the scheme to get a toilet to build in their house to promote cleanliness and disease free country.
Eligibility for Toilet Scheme

- The person applying for the Toilet scheme should belong to the BPL family.
- They should have a BPL Card issued to the family.
- The family should not have any other existing toilet in the house already.
- Bank account number is also required as the fund for the toilet construction will be given through the bank and in which money will be transferred.

The online portal is available to apply for the toilet scheme as for the assistance of the public can easily apply for it. The online portal is named as the INDIVIDUAL HOUSEHOLD LATRINE(IHHL) Application as it is maintained and controlled by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government Of India. - Click on new registration or applicant to register yourself at the portal.
- The following image will appear to fill in your details asked.
- The name, Address, state, mobile number etc.
- Click on generate OTP.
- After successful registration, an OTP will be received on your mobile.
- You will get your Username and Password.
- Then log in yourself at the portal.
LOG IN

If you have applied for the scheme and you want to check the ihhl status of the application. Either you can visit the official website or click on the ‘Status’ and login yourself to get the status of your application you can also get the print of the application.

When will you receive fund?
To receive the amount of cost for the toilet you have to upload the image of the toilet constructed. It will also be verified by the officer your area by visiting the house to see the toilet. After his approval, the government complete verification will be done and your money will be transferred to your account.
