Shivraj Singh Chouhan is a former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He served as the State President of the BJP and the General Secretary of the Party in Madhya Pradesh. He was born on 5 March 1959 in Jait, Sehore in Madhya Pradesh. He born in the small farmer family. His parents are Sh. Prem Sigh Chouhan and Smt. Sundar Bai Chouhan. He married Sadhana Singh in 1992. He has two sons named Kartikey and Kunal. He earned his Bachelors and Master Degree in Philosophy from the Bhopal University. He grew up learning all about farming even working in the fields.
Political Career of Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Shivraj Singh started his political career by joining RSS in 1972. He belongs to the Bhartiya Janta Party and was its State President. Even he was elected to the Lok Sabha five times since 1991 from the Vidisha Constituency. He was the president of the Model Higher Secondary School Student Union before he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time and just a year later he was a part of the movement against Emergency and was even jailed in the process. He was the General Secretary of All India Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha from 1992 and he also was the General Secretary of BJP’s of Madhya Pradesh from 1992 to 1994. He became a member of the Labour and Welfare Committee from 1993 to 1996. From the year 1992 to 1996 he became a member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Shivraj Singh scored a Hat-trick in 12th Lok Sabha Elections in 1998. He even scored the 4th consecutive victory in 13th Lok Sabha Elections 1999. During this period he was an active member of Committees on Agriculture and Public Undertakings. He held the responsibility as a National President of BJYM from 2000 to 2003. He also appointed as a chairman of Lok Sabha and national Secretary of BJP. He was appointed as a president of BJP Madhya Pradesh in 2005. He was elected as a Chief Minister of State on 29 November 2005. In the State Elections, he led the party to its second consecutive victory in 2008, he assumed the office of the CM 12 Dec 2008. In the year 2013, He led BJP to the third victory and become a Chief Minister for the third time. He is the Longest serving CM of the state.
Shivraj Singh was honored with the United Nations Public Service Award for Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act 2012.
He was criticized all over the country for his comment to employ the local people of Madhya Pradesh and not Bihari’s in the State. Later he clears his comment and said that everyone is welcome in the State.
Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is Succeeded by Mr. Kamal Nath as per the election held in December 2018.
