He was born in Pune on 30 January 1951 in the Brahmin’s family. His father Sh. Keshav Krishan Javadekar was the leader of Hindu Maha Sabha. His father also worked as the Journalist in the many newspapers and Editor in Marathi daily. His mother Smt. Ranjani Javadekar was the teacher. She teaches Vedic Education. Parkash Javadekar completed his graduation in B.Com from Pune University, Pune.
He is married to Dr. Prachee Javadekar. She is an Education Researcher and Consultant, and the former Director of Indira Institute of Management. He has two sons. His elder son Ashutosh Javadekar who is the Dentist and an Artist. His younger son Apoorva Javadekar who completed Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University. Javadekar has one sister. She worked as the School Teacher.
Sh. Parkash Javadekar began his political career as the member of the ABVP, the student wing of RSS from his college days. He participated in the student movement during the Emergency in 1975 declared by PM Indira Gandi. He led the SATYAGRAH NON-VIOLENT MOVEMENT in Pune. He was arrested and face a lot of difficulties in Jail. He became the member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1990 to 2002. He appointed as the executive president of the State Planning Board from 1995 to 1999. From 1997 to 1999 he became the chairman of the Task Force on IT in Maharashtra Govt. He became the chairman of the working group on IT for Masses. In 2008 he was elected to Rajya Sabha and became the member of the Committee on Papers laid on the Table, Energy, Defence, Public Undertaking, Public Account, Human Resource Development, and Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Power. He became the member of the Parliamentary Forum on Youth from May 2008 to May 2009 and from January 2010 to April 2014. from May 2012 to April 2012 he appointed as the member of the Committee on Public Undertakings. He became the member of the Committee on Public Accounts from May 2010 to April 2014. On 27 May 2014, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He was appointed as the Union Minister of Human Resource Development on 5 July 2016.
Apart from Politics Javadekar has written books in Marathi. A problem of Unemployment [Bekaricha Jwalamukhi] in 1986, Farm Loan Waiver [Nanenidhiche Karz] in 1987, In 1988 Farm Loan Waiver [Shetkanyanchi Karzmukti], Problem of Inflation [Mahagaicha Bhasmasoor] in 1999 and 2010. He also has written 300 article on Unemployment in the various newspapers. Javadekar achieved Sir Purshottam Das Thakur Memorial National Award for research papers on unemployment and banks. He visited in different countries as the member of Govt. of Maharashtra delegation and member of the young political leader in the USA. He even attended GLOBE conference in Japan, Rome, Cape Town and Durban [South Africa].
