Jagat Prakash Nadda (jp) is an Indian Politician who belongs to Himachal Pradesh. He is Current Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare. He is the Secretary of Parliamentary Board in BJP and also a member of Rajya Sabha in Himachal Pradesh. He was born in Brahmin family on 2 December 1960 in Patna Bihar. His parents are Dr. Narian Lall Nadda and mother Late Smt. Krishna Nadda. He is married to Dr. Mallika Nadda on 11 December 1991. She is a lecturer of History in Himachal Pradesh University. She runs an NGO named CHETNA. In 2010, she received RAJIV GANDHI MANAV SEWA AWARD.He has two sons. Dr. Mallika Nadda is the daughter of Smt. Jayshree Banerjee who is a former elected member of 13th Lok Sabha from Jabalpur. He completed his schooling from St. Xavier’s School Patna. He is graduated from Patna College Patna University. He completed his LLB from Himachal Pradesh University Shimla.
Nadda was first elected in the elections of 1993 to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He became the member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for three terms from 1993 to 1998, 1998 to 2003 and 2007 to 2012. He became the leader of BJP from 1994 to 1998. He became the Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs from 1998 to 2003 to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, he became the Cabinet Minister of Forests, Environment, Science, and Technology. He was elected to Rajya Sabha 2012 as the member of Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture. He became the member of the Court of the University of Delhi from August 2012 onwards and member of the committee on Privileges, Health and Family Welfare from May 2013 onwards. PM Narender Modi appointed Nadda as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare in 2014 during reshuffle the cabinet.
