Sheetal | SarkariNiti Sh. Conrad Sangma is a 12th and current Chief Minister of Meghalaya. His full name is Conrad Kongkal Sangma. He is the son of late Sh. Purma Sangma the former CM of Meghalaya. After the death of his father, he became president of NPP- National people Party in 2016. He is also a member of the Parliament from Tura.
Conrad Sangma was born on 27 January 1978 at Tura Meghalaya. His parents are late Sh. Purno Agitok Sangma was a Politician and speaker of the Lok Sabha and his mother Soradini Kongkal Sangma is a homemaker. He has a one brother James Sangma is a Politician and a two sisters Christy and Agatha Sangma. His sister Agatha is also a Politician. He is married to Mehtab Agitok Sangma on 7 June 2009. She is a doctor by profession. He has two daughters.
Conrad completed his schooling at St. Columbas School, New Delhi. He completed his BBA[Enterpreneurial Management] and got a Degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his MBA in finance from the Imperial College London, England. He also worked as the Businessman and Social Worker. He is the president of PA Sangma Foundation. Four colleges are run by this foundation in the rural area of Meghalaya. This foundation is worked in the of the education and environment. He became the president of the Meghalaya Cricket Association and Sports Academy.
Sangma started his political career after completing his studies in 1990. He started as a Campaign Manager for his father from NCP- nationalist congress party. In 2004, he has contested his first election and defeated by 182 votes. he serves as the member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2013. He became the member of the Cabinet Minister of Finance, Power, and Tourism from 2008 to 2009. In the 2016 Bye-Election, he elected to the 16th Lok Sabha. He became the member of the standing committee on Energy in 2016. He is appointed as the 12th CM of Meghalaya on 6 March 2018.
Conrad hobbies are traveling, listening Music, and Playing the musical instrument. He loves to play the guitar and piano. he also organized musical events. He visited many like countries Australia, France, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, U.A.E, U.K., U.S.A., and Venezuela.
