He has two daughters named Aishwarya and Vijeta.
Ananth Kumar started his political journey by joining RSS in his college days and became the member of the BJP student wing [ABVP]. In 1985 he became the member of ABVP and get the position of National Secretary in Karnataka. He became the member of BJP from 1995 to 1998. He elected to Lok Sabha and won the elections in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014. He became popular with his glorious six consecutive times winning. He became the member of Consultative Committee in 1996 and he handled the ministry of industry and railways. He was re-elected to the 2nd term of 12th Lok Sabha in 1998. He appointed as the Union Cabinet Minister of Civil Aviation from March 1998 to October 1999 by Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s. He also has the Additional Charge of the Ministry of Tourism from Jan 1999 to October 1999. He was re-elected to the 3rd term of 13th Lok Sabha and became the Union Cabinet Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs, and Sports from 13 October 1999 to 2 Feb 2000. After that, he became the minister of Tourism and Culture from 2 Feb 2000 to 1 Sept. 2001. He served as a Minister of Urban Development, Poverty Alleviation and an additional charge of Rural Development from Sept. 2001 to July 2003. On 26 June 2003, he became the president of BJP in Karnataka. He elected to the 4th term of 14th Lok Sabha in 2004 and appointed as the Chairman of the committee of Coal & Steel, and also became the member of General Purposes Committee from August 2004 to March 2007. He became the General Secretary of BJP on 1 Nov 2004. He became the member of Joint Committee on Office of Profit in 2005. On 9 March 2007, he became the chairman of Committee on Finance. He also became the member of Business Advisory Committee in March 2007. In 2009, he elected to the 5th term of 15th Lok Sabha and appointed as the Chairman of Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers from 31 August 2009 to 5 May 2010. On 7 May 2010, he became the member of the Committee on External Affairs. He appointed as the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers in the Modi cabinet in May 2014.
Ananth Kumar is also popular for his social and cultural activities. In his social activities, He focused on the MIDDAY MEAL Programme by Adamya Chetna Foundation and also focused on ANNA-AKSHARA- AROGYA. He has a huge interest in his culture and nation. He became the first person who spokes in Kannada in United Nation and created a history. PRAKRUTI- The launch of Green Bengaluru is promoted for the Green life Style of the State and SANSKRUTI is promoting the culture and language of Bengaluru focused by Ananth Kumar.
