Raman Singh was born on 15 October 1952 Kawardha in Chhattisgarh. He belongs to a Rajput Family. His father’s name is Vighnaharan Singh Thakur and mothers name is Sudha Singh. Political career of Dr. Raman Singh
Dr. Raman Singh joined the Bhartiya Jan Sangh. He was the president of a youth wing in Kwardha in 1976-77, Then he progressed and became a Councillor of Kawardha municipality in 1983. He won Assembly Election of Madhya Pradesh in 1990 and 1993. He also won the Lok Sabha Seat from Rajnandgaon in 1999. He Becomes a State President of Chhattisgarh for Bhartiya Janta Party. He worked for the victory of the party in the 2003 Assembly election in the state. Raman Singh became a Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry from 1999 to 2003, in the Govt. of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Now at present, he is the minister of General Administration, Finance, Electronics and Information Technology, Public Relation and other departments which are not allotted to any other minister. He led the Party to a Victory in 2003 State Assembly Elections.
Raman Singh used his image to push reform in the state reduce corruption, manage fiscal policy and welfare programs for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He has chaired the Chhattisgarh Infotech and Biotech Society[CHIPS] set up as a prime mover in the information technology in the State. The state got the UNDP [United Nation Development Program] award in 2007 for using information technology for the welfare of the Citizens.

In the year 2004-2005, he visited different countries like USA, Canada, and U.K inviting foreign companies to invest in Chhattisgarh. He also participated in 3rd Annual South Africa International Trade and Investment Conference held at Sandton, Johannesburg in Oct 2009. He received the Bhartiya Asmita Shreshtha Jan Pratinidhi Award by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India K.G Balakrishnan 3 Feb 2008. The Indo American Community of North America honored him with the Outstanding Person Award in 2004-2005.
