He came from a financially weak family and spend his childhood in Jamshedpur. His father’s name is Chaman Ram. His father was a laborer in a Steel Plant and his mother’s name was Sonwati Devi. Raghubar Das is married to Rukmini Devi. They have two children one son and one daughter. His son named is Lalit Kumar Das and Daughter name is Renu.
Das completed his matriculation from Bhalubhasa Harijan High School. He was graduated in B.Sc from Jamshedpur Co-operative College. He completes his LLB from the same college. He was employed as a laborer at the Rolling Mills of Tata Steel Plant in Jamshedpur.
Raghubar Das represent the Bhartiya Janta Party from Jamshedpur East Constituency.There are 8 registered criminal cases against Raghubar Das. He involved in Politics during his college days. He became a part of ‘Total Revolution’ movement against the emergency in 1975 enforced then by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He joined Janta Party in 1977 and later he joined Bhartiya Janta Party in 1980. He was appointed as Vice President of BJP, Jamshedpur. He won five times in election on and became a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Jamshedpur East Constituency. He shows his good performance in the party and impresses Party High Command. Das was rewarded with the post of Secretary and then Vice-President in BJP state unit. His Political career rises in 1995. Das had an opportunity to contest the Bihar Legislative Assembly Election in 1995 on the party ticket from Jamshedpur East Assembly Constituency. He succeeded in the election and selected to the Legislative Assembly for the first time. He went on to win every election thereafter. He also won the latest 2014 Jharkhand Assembly Elections from Jamshedpur East. In 2004 He was honored by his appointment as Chief of BJP Jharkhand. In 2005 He was elected as an Urban Development Minister. Das was appointed as Chief Minister of Jharkhand in 2005.
Das also led the Indian General Election 2009 in the state. From 30 Dec 2009 to 29 May 2010 he held the office of Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand state. He was also appointed as the Vice President of the National Committee of BJP on 16 August 2014. In Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election in 2014 when BJP secured majority then Das became a 6th and the first Non-Tribal Chief Minister of the State in December 2014.
