Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) – Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is the modifies and enhances version of Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY). This is basically a maternity program that the government of India start for the benefits of young mothers. This scheme specially devises by the government so that the problem of malnourishment can obliterate totally form the face of this country. Mostly the problem of malnourishment is seen in the young mothers who suppose to breastfeed their babies. According to statistics and reports, every third woman of the country is suffering from malnutrition or anemia. And as a result, a malnourish baby gives birth to a baby who is underweight.

  • This scheme is also providing the loss of wage amount that is lost while delivering the first child. The government of providing this so that the mothers can take adequate rest and recover after the birth of the first child.
  • The cash incentive supposes to improve the condition of the pregnant and lactating mothers.
  • The Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is also promoting the proper service during the term of pregnancy and other medical procedures.

  • On average, expecting women will be getting an amount of Rs 6000 every month.

Eligibility and the conditions applying

If you are want to get the benefit of the scheme. The Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) has the following conditions and norms: –

  • The pregnant women above the age of nineteen are eligible for this scheme.
  • They can apply for the incentive amount of Rs 4000 and it will be paid in three installments.
  • The pregnancy then registers at the Anganwadi to avail the benefits and the facilities of the Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
  • One has to attend at least one prenatal care sessions.
  • One has to attend at least one session at the health care centers or AWC.
  • The child has to be immunized with vaccines.
  • The mother has to attend at least three monitoring sessions after the birth of the child but within three months of the birth.
  • The child has to be breastfed for at least six months.
  • The child has to be immunized with OPV and DPT.
  • The mother has to attend at least attend two counseling sessions on the monitoring of the growth.

  • Form 1-A– For registration under PMMVY and claiming the first installment.
  • Form 1-B– For claiming the second installment.
  • Form 1-C– For claiming the third installment.
  • Form 2-A– Application form for Aadhar seeding with the bank account of the beneficiary.
  • Form 2-B– Application form for Aadhar seeding with post office savings account of the beneficiary.
  • Form 2-C– For Aadhar enrollment and corrections.

How to apply Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana?

You need to fill up all the above-mentioned forms and attach required documents by the concerned authorities. After that, you will have to contact the nearest Anganwadi center. There you will have to register with all the details and necessary documents. You will need to also fill all the forms and submit here.  From the government web portal, you will be able to download all the necessary forms.

The government of India is supporting the expecting mothers and also the lactating women so that they do not suffer from malnutrition and malnourishment. With financial aid, the government is supporting thousands of women around the country. But, according to reports and articles by newspapers these women and their family members have to deal with a lot of red-tape and official procedures. For this reason, many women are failing to avail of this service. This scheme is not new; the older one modifies and restructures to meet the demands and the requirements of the present generation. This scheme is very essential and helpful in the grass hood level because if the child subject to malnutrition form a very early age it is very probable that he or she is likely to develop complex diseases.
