Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

To encourage education and knowledge among the students and their parents, the Government of Uttarakhand (Social Welfare Department) is providing Post Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Class (OBC) students. Even though it has been several years after the Indian independence and in spite of the various measures that have been taken into consideration to make a development in the level of educational level in the country, the literacy levels of the country among the backwards class people continue to be on the extremely low side. To improve the education ration amongst Other Backward Class (OBC) students, the government provides a scholarship at fixed amount of rate to the OBC students who are studying in recognised university, technical, medical, management institute in the state or out of state or state. In this scheme, Scholarship is given to those students whose parents/guardian’s annual income is below Rs. 100000 / – (Rs. One lakh). This scheme helps for those who belonging to economically weaker sections of OBC communities and it also provides better opportunities for increasing their rate of attainment in higher education, enhance their employability & empowerment through education

Benefits of Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

• General graduation Course: benefits of Rs. 260/- for hosteller & non-hosteller Rs.160/-
• Law degree, library science, physical education, postgraduate diploma and postgraduate course: the scholarship of Rs.400/- for hosteller & Rs. 210/- for non-hosteller
• Diploma, Engineer, Medical, Diet, Nursing, and Pharmacy: the scholarship of Rs.510/- for hosteller & Rs. 335 / – for non-hosteller
• Medical, Engineer Degree Level, Graduate/Post Graduate level Professional Studies & Research: the scholarship of Rs. 750/- for hosteller & for Rs. 350/-for non-hosteller

Eligibility for Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Student

1. Applicant should be resident of Uttarakhand state
2. Student’s parents/guardian’s annual income should be less than Rs. 100000/ – (Rs. One Lakh)
3. For all the students studying in renowned Universities such as Dental, Technical, Medical, and Management Institutions that run in the state of Uttarakhand or another state will also be considered eligible to gain benefits of scholarship
4. Applicant should belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC)

Documents required for Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

1. Aadhaar card
2. Family income proof
3. Caste certificate
4. Student examination mark sheet
5. Passport size photos
6. Bank account details

How to apply for Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students?

• Students studying in states apart from the state of Uttarakhand must have to submit an application form along with the letter of the concerned institution to the District Social Welfare Officer till 30 November
• The last date for candidates to submit their application with regards to the scholarship availing students studying in the universities/institutions that are located outside the state is recommended by November 30
• If a student is studying within an institutions in the state of Uttarakhand he/she must have submitted an application along with the attached requested documents to the to the concerned college or institutions
