Asha Rani Chamling. He is a founder, farmer, contractor, legislator and politician. He has two wives. Dhan Maya Chamling and Tika Maya Chamling. He has eight children four sons and four daughters.

He received Bhanu Purusarkar award for his poetry in 2010 by Sikkim Sahitya Parishad. He also received Manav Sewa Puraskar for his leadership of the state and for the social works. He is also awarded by the center for science environment for making the Sikkim the greenest state in India. The uses of chemicals and fertilizers in the farms are banned by Sikkim Govt. The PM Modi declared Sikkim as the first and the only ORGANIC STATE in the country on 18 January 2016. He is the founder of NIRMAN the literary magazine in 1977. He edits and published his NIRMAN Magazine. He is also a president of Sikkim Handicapped Persons Welfare Mission.
Pawan Kumar Chamling was elected as a president of Yangyang Gram Panchayat in 1982. For the first time, he was elected to the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.Then he was a part of Sikkim Prajatantra Congress. He became the Minister for Industries, Information, and Public Relations from 1989 to 1992 after elected for the second time from Damthang in the Nar Bahadur Bhandari Cabinet. On 4 March 1993, he formed a Sikkim Democratic Front. He was elected as its president in the State Assembly 1994. His party won and he became a Chief Minister of Sikkim. After Jyoti Basu the CM of West Bengal to govern a state five-term in a row, Pawan Kumar is the second CM of India after Jyoti Basu with his party Sikkim Democratic Front winning five times in 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014 Sikkim Legislative Assembly Elections. He breaks the records of CM of West Bengal. After 18 months in 2014 Elections On 30 Nov, 2015 7 out of 10 MLA’s joined SDF party. Now the party has 28 out of 32 assembly seats in the state.
Pawan Kumar Chamling honored by many awards such as CHINTAN Puruskar-1987, BHARAT Shiromani-1996, The Man of the Year-1998, The Greenest Chief Minister of India- 1989, The Man of Dedication 1999.
