Sheetal | SarkariNiti Mukul Sangma is the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He is the 11th CM of the Northeastern State. He represents the Indian National Congress. He was born on 20 April 1965 in the South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya. His Father’s name is Binoy Bhushan M Marak. His Mother’s name is Roshana Begum. They both were teachers.
Mukul Sangma completed his schooling at Government High School in Ampati. He Passed his pre-university examination in Science from St. Anthony’s College Shillong in 1984. He studied Medicine at Regional Institute of Medical Science [RIMS] in Imphal. He practiced Medicine for a short period of time. He took his first job as a Medical and Health officer ZikZak Public Health Centre.
Mukul Sangma is married to Dikkanchi D. Shira and they blessed with four children. His wife is a Social Activist and an Industrialist and a Class 1 Contractor. She holds a legislative post in the Meghalaya State Assembly as a representative of Indian National Congress. She is an example for those societies in the North East who thought that women’s are not able to participate in politics. Mukul has a brother Zenith M.Sangma who is a Congress MLA.
Mukul Sangma started his political career in 1993. He started as an Independent Candidate when he was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. He was appointed as Meghalaya Transport Corporation’s Chairman. In between 1996 and 1998 he served as the Parliamentary Secretary. In 1998, 2003 and 2008 he was re-elected as a Congress candidate to the same constituency. In 2003 He became the Home and Education Minister in DD Lapang Ministry of Meghalaya. In 2005, he was appointed as a Deputy Chief Minister. He became the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya in 2009 as a representative of the Indian National Congress led by Meghalaya United Alliance Government by the CM DD Lapang. The former CM DD Lapang resigned on 19 April 2010. Mukul Sangma took the charge of Chief Minister of Meghalaya on 20 April 2010.
Sangma introduced a Medical and Health Insurance Schemes that gives good medical facilities for the people’s of the state. He is a founder member of Miracle Foundation. He is also a Social Worker of Ampati Youth Welfare Club.
Sangma has launched a MULTIPLE SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMMES for Providing aid to the singles mother, orphaned girls. Special Wedding Assistance Schemes for the orphaned girls over the age of 18. He also launched a Career Guidance Programmes for Coaching supports for the students from the Underprivileged Students. In 2007 He also launched the Life Programm towards empowering people for Economic Prosperity.
