Kusum Yojana Objectives

Who will get the benefit of the Kusum Scheme?
As per the government with the implementation of the scheme KUSUM. The use of the existing Diesel and Electric Pumps will be replaced by solar energy. Solar Agricultural Pumps can be used for the same. The central government will give 60% of the total cost of the project to the eligible farmers. As banks will give 30% extra for the total expenses for the project. So the farmer has to give the upfront cost and it is 10% to set these solar projects.
Features of the KUSUM Yojana
The features of the Kusum Yojana are as follows:
- Betterment of the farmers.
- Plants on infertile land for the Solar power.
- A solar power plant can generate a total of 28, 250 MW power.
- Pumps consuming solar power will be deployed on the land.
- The capacity of each pump is 720 MW, making power production on small scale.
- The extra amount of the power generated by the power panel can be sold to the government.
- As it is pollution free generation of power and the use of fossil fuel will be decreased.

- At the initial phase, the solar pump will be distributed to the farmers under the scheme. As the governments would offer a total of 17.5 lakh solar powered pumps.
- Solar power factories will be constructed to produce significant power amount.
- Then the set up of the unique tube wells under the monitoring of the government. It will also have a certain capacity or amount for power.
- Not only the aim to set up plants for solar power production but the modernization of the old pumps are also the part of the yojana.
