He is the first and current CM of Telangana after of the Telangana State got separated from Andhra Pradesh. He is the leader and president of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti a regional party in India. His full name is Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao. He is also popular as KCR.
K Chandrashekhar Rao was born on 17 February 1954 in Chitamadaka in Siddipet in Medak District Hyderabad. He completed his masters in Telugu Literature from Osmania Arts College Osmania University Hyderabad. He is married to K. Shoba on 23 April 1969. He has two children. His son K.T Rama Rao is a legislator from Sirisilla Karimnagar District Telangana and his daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha is a member of parliament from Nizamabad, Telangana. He has 9 sisters and 1 elder brother in Velama Dora Family.
KCR starts his political career in the half of 1970’s. He joined the Youth Congress party from Medak District which is led by RAJIV GANDHI. He became the member of the Telugu Desam Party in 1983. He contested on the party ticket in 1983 general elections but he lost to A. Madan Mohan. After he came back strongly and won 4 consecutive State election from 1985 to 1995 from Siddipet constituency. He became the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He resigned from the party and formed his own Political Party Telangana Rashtra Samiti. He won general elections from 2constituenciesy in 2004. He was appointed as a Union Cabinet Minister of Labour and Employment. In 2006 he stepped out from the cabinet. In 2009 he won Lok Sabha Elections Conducted in Mahbubnagar constituency. In 2014 general elections he won the Medak parliamentary seat. He is an MLA from Gajwal assembly seat of the Medak District. He served as the member of the Legislative Assembly from Siddipet and the member of the Parliament from Mahbubnagar, Medak, and Karimnagar. He took oath as a first CM of the new state Telangana on 2 June 2014.

He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Telugu. Rao began a hunger strike on 29 Nov 2009 for demanding a Telangana as a separate state. 9 December 2009 the Indian Govt. announced that the process of the formation of the state Telangana would be intimated. This is the biggest achievement of his life.
He got POPULAR CHOICE AWARD at CNN-IBN Indian of the year 2014, and AGRICULTURAL LEADERSHIP AWARD 2017.
