Every death has to be registered within 21 days of the occurrence, as per the provision of the Birth and Death Registration, Act,1969. A death certificate is issued only to the closest relative of the deceased person and it will help to claim several benefits to a deceased person family.

Registering Death

It is compulsory to register every death within 21 days of occurrence and registration of death depends on the place which is explained below-

  • If death occurred in a jail, then it is registered by the in-charge of jail.
  • It is the responsibility of the head of the family to register a death if it is taken place in the home.
  • Medical In-charge will register a death if it occurs in a medical institution.
  • If the death has taken place in the local area then it should be registered b the local police in-charge.

Documents Required

Some documents are required to attach while applying for the death certificate in Goa which is mentioned below-

  • Deceased person’s Birth Certificate Goa
  • An affidavit which states the cause, date, and place of death in the case of late registration.
  • Address proof.
  • Inquiry from Tehsil.

Death Certificate of Missing Person

If a person is missing from seven years and untraceable then the applicant can claim the death certificate. The place and date of death will be decided by the court and it will help to make a death certificate.

Required Fee

Applicant has to pay the required fee according to the registration which is mentioned below-

  1. Applicant has to pay Rs.2/- if the death is registered after the 21 – 30 days.
  2. If the death has registered within 1 year will have to pay Rs.5/-.
  3. The applicant will pay the late fee if death has registered after 1 year i.e, Rs.10/-.

  4. Fill all the necessary details in the application form and submit it to the same office along with the required documents.
  5. After the submission, the applicant will receive an acknowledgment number to check the date of delivery.
