The Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana is a flagship scheme that was launched by the state of Odisha, to section out the masses of Odisha and provide them with a Pucca house to live in. This is a housing scheme specially targeted for the rural masses in the state.

According to sources, a large proportion of the rural population in Odisha does not have the availability of even the standard living conditions and are forced to live in the temporary shelters. The government has provided over 10 lakh houses to people, including SC&SC and other backward categories in the last two years in the state.

  • Material: it should have a foundation, wall, and roof of permanent material
  • Wall Material: fly ash bricks, burnt bricks, stones (packed with lime or cement)
  • Roof material: tiles, GCI (Galvanized Corrugated Iron) sheets, asbestos cement sheets, RBC (Reinforced Brick Concrete) and RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete)
  • Lifetime: the expected life of the structure must be a minimum of 30 years

  • The Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana is a stated plan scheme and is designed to provide Pucca houses
  • The dwelling unit under the BPGY will be sanctioned preferably in the name of women
  • No contractor shall be involved in the construction of houses under the BPGY
  • The fund under the scheme shall be credited to the beneficiary account through the Direct Account Transfer through an electronic fund management system
  • The minimum size of the house should be of 25 square meters that include a hygienic cooking space and excluding toilet.

Eligibility for the scheme

  • Candidate must be registered in the SECC list and must be ordinarily residing in the village
  • The candidate must not have Pucca house or be constructed in the meantime
  • The candidate must not have availed for the Pucca house scheme under any other government.

The launching of the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana Toll-free number

The state legislature of Odisha has propelled a sans toll helpline number for the recipients of the lodging plans. The government took this decision after receiving complaints about government officials and employees taking bribes and harassing the housing scheme employees.

Using the toll-free number anyone can lodge a complaint against any employees or officer and the government will take action accordingly.

The candidates can dial the toll-free number to inform the local BDO and district collector about the corrupt officials.
