With the launch of the Smartphone Yojana by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu to benefit the people Below Poverty Line (BPL), that would provide them with smartphones. The smartphones would be given to those people between the ages of 18 to 35 so that these people can make the best use of the scheme as well as have access to the web banking and some other essential things through the web.
As with the ban on 1000 rupee notes and 500 rupee notes have brought people into a financial crisis as they are not easy to be exchanged and many are coming up with this issue. So the implementation of the scheme would help the people to have an easy access to through net banking and better utilization of the currencies.
Objectives of the scheme
- The main aim of the scheme will be to enable the youth of the state to make transactions and connect digitally.
- The government also wants to increase the digital use and make the state of Andhra Pradesh a digital state through this scheme.

How to apply for Free Smartphone Scheme for Students?
- The registration portal for this scheme will launch soon
- Once registration portal is launched, applicant need to visit official registration page
- Then, enter essential information like name, address etc.
- Provide Aadhaar card number, mobile number and email id for verification
- After, student will get one-time password (OTP) on their registered mobile number
- Once verified, fill the details of institute/college
- Upload documents such as institute/college ID card and BPL card
- After the successful submission of online application form, a system generated application number will appear on the screen
- Take a printout or note down application number
