An Indian Passport for Travelling Abroad
For the Purpose of International Travelling, The passport is a very important document issued by the Country’s Government. A passport proofs the identity and nationality of the Person. A passport is very important documents so it contains many important details such as name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Photograph, Signature, and other important information.
As per the PASSPORT ACT 1967, a passport serves as the Proof of Citizenship of the country and bear to travel internationally. In India, the process of passport is completed by the unit of CPV [Counsular, passport, and visa]. The Central Passport Organization Worked under the DIVISION OF THE MINISTRY OF THE EXTERNAL AFFAIRS.
Indian Government Issued three types of passports. The first category is ORDINARY PASSPORT. This is valid for travel for the vacations, study, and Bussiness trips. This passport is covered with dark blue color.
The second category is OFFICIAL PASSPORT. This passport is issued to those peoples who represent India on official business. It is a TYPE-S passport. Here S stands for SERVICE. It is covered with WHITE color.
The third category is DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT. It is a TYPE-D passport. Here D stands for DIPLOMATIC. It is covered with MAROON color. This type of passport is issued to the top-ranking government officers for work-related travel.
There are two other passports issued by Indian Government and authority of Overseas Missions. They issued regular Passport to Indian residents who belong to West Bengal, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and North-Eastern State. These passports are known as INDO-BANGLADESH PASSPORTS and INDO-SRILANKAN PASSPORTS. This two passport give a permit to travel only in Bangladesh and Srilanka. These passports are not valid for travel in other countries.
The Indian Government issued TATKAL PASSPORT or SHORT VALID PASSPORT for the urgent needs. This passport issued for once only and is considered as the Ordinary passport.
The Indian Passport is Dark Bluish Black color. The printing on this cover is golden in color. The Indian passport has Identity Information Page with BIODATA information such as TYPE- P Personal, S Service, D Diplomatic, Country Code-IND, Passport number,surname, Given name, Nationality, Sex, date of birth, place of birth, place of issue, date of issue, date of expiry, the photo of the candidate, and the signature of the candidate. After filling the information correctly the information page ends with MRZ [Machine Readable Zone]. There is a page at the end of the passport which contains the information like Name of the father or legal guardian, Name of mother, Name of Spouse, Address, and File number.
The Indian Passport printed in two official languages HINDI and ENGLISH of the union. Many countries moving ahead and use a new technique of E-Passports. This technique means including Biometric information in a microchip embedded in the passport. By Biometric system the passport makes machine readable. There are 93 Passport offices across India who issued Indian Passport.
You can apply online for the fresh or re-issue of the passport. You can be registered through the Passport Seva Online Portal http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/procFormSubOnl. The first step is to REGISTER NOW on the home page. The Second step is LOGIN to the Passport Seva with register LOGIN ID. Then Click on the fresh or re-issue of passport. Then fill all the details in the form and click on submit button. Then you have to pay online. It is mandatory to pay online at the time of booking. The online payment has different modes. You can pay with the Credit/Debit Card or Internet banking. Then Click on the PRINT APPLICATION RECEIPT. When you are going to visit the passport office the SMS is also accepted as a proof of appointment. There is no need to carry the application receipt with you so long. The last step is to visit the Regional Passport Office with original documents where the appointment has been booked. This is the online process to apply for the passport.
